INHLABA
SOME FLOWERS ONLY BLOOM UNDER PRESSURE

Inhlaba.

The aloe heals with its own skin. It blooms in winter.

I. The Aloe

Rooted in fire.

Aloe ferox — known in Zulu as inhlaba — stores its medicine against drought and blooms in the cold months, when little else can. The plant that gave us the name is the metaphor for the house.

Every stone in the collection is certified and set to the discipline of the fynbos: patience, restraint, the slow collapse of carbon into light. Pressure is not punishment. It is the condition for bloom.
